EXCLUSIVE: Promising Chelsea keeper Courtois set to be offered long-term deal by Atletico

Chelsea are facing a battle to hang on to goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after Atletico Madrid made it clear they want him for at least another season and are ready to offer him a permanent move in the summer.
After snapping him up from Genk as a teenager 18 months ago, Chelsea have been presented with a dilemma by on-loan Courtois’ rapid development into a cult figure at Atletico.
Sportsmail can reveal that anxious Chelsea bosses despatched goal-keeping coach Christophe Lollichon to Madrid over the weekend to monitor the Belgian’s form against Real Betis and talk over his future plans.

Though reluctant to return to Stamford Bridge in an understudy capacity, it is understood the 20-year old has been assured Chelsea see him as long-term successor to Petr Cech.
As they weigh up their next move, Chelsea may consider opening talks over a new improved contract.
Courtois signed a five-year deal in July 2011 on relatively modest terms and feels they should now be amended to reflect his progress.
Meanwhile, Cech is a doubt for Chelsea’s Premier League clash at home to Wigan on Saturday after a finger injury forced him to withdraw from duty with the Czech Republic.
The human body is a wonder of Nature: our brains react faster than a computer, our hearts beat without the need for rest. But it’s not perfect.
The appendix, for instance, seems to have no real function yet can be the cause of appendicitis and, if left untreated, life-threatening peritonitis (inflammation of the abdominal lining) — so it could be simpler to get rid of it.
Indeed, faulty body design often makes us prone to illness. Here, the experts reveal the body parts that, ideally, should go back to the drawing board.

MOUTH: Too many teeth

The major flaw with the mouth is the way the hard teeth are anchored into soft gum.
‘This forms a weak junction and allows bacteria to easily proliferate in pockets in the soft tissue around the base of the teeth — it is this that leads to periodontal (gum) disease,’ says Dr Margaret Kellett, director of the Leeds Dental Institute.
‘Really, it would have been better if teeth were anchored into a harder, more bone‑like structure which bacteria could not penetrate so readily.’

And there is also absolutely no need for us to have wisdom teeth.
‘We have them because our cavemen ancestors ate predominately raw meat and vegetation, which required a lot of force to chew.’ says Dr Kellett.
‘But, over time, our diet has become softer as we have developed methods of cooking and processing food.
'As a result, the muscles around the jaw need to exert less force on it — causing it to shrink over the years.
‘However, our teeth have not evolved at the same rate, so we are left with a smaller jaw but the same amount of teeth.
‘That is why wisdom teeth may have to be removed. There just isn’t the room and, if left, they can push into the neighbouring tooth, causing damage and infection.’
