Elizabeth Hurley's 'horrific' return from Australia as she finds two of her beloved dogs are suspected victims of poisoning
Elizabeth Hurley has claimed that two of her dogs have been poisoned.
The actress turned model tweeted that she made the grim discovery after returning from a trip to Australia with her fiance, cricketer Shane Warne.
It is not clear if the dogs' sickness stems from foul play or from eating something disagreeable that they found in or around her sprawling Gloucestershire estate.
She wrote: 'Home Sweet Home. Wonderful to be back but two of my dogs have been
seriously ill for the last 48 hours. Vet thinks poison. Horrific.'
Her chocolate Labrador, Lucy, seemed to have been most affected by the poison and according to Liz, is now hobbling around with bandaged legs.
'Lucy, the chocolate lab, was hit the worst. She still has bandaged legs where the drip went in. Lots of cuddles...'
Labradors are renowned for their insatiable appetites and are at the greedier end of the dog breed spectrum.
This could mean that they have simply eaten something that has disagreed with them rather than it being a sinister motive.
Liz is a devoted dog owner, and recently welcomed a new puppy, Mia to her pack of three Labradors and a spaniel.
Thankfully,
the young pup is not unwell, and Liz told her fans that she had been
playing in the garden with the sprightly young dog.
'The farm looks beautiful in the snow.....I had a snowball fight with puppy Mia. She kept eating them, though.'
Austin Powers star Liz, 47, often speaks wistfully of her beloved dogs and how they enhance her life.
She openly admits to sharing a bed with her motley crew of mutts, and last year told Amuse Magazine that her dogs are an important part of her daily routine.
'I live full-time in the country and try to walk or run with the dogs
every day,' she said.
'I have three labradors and a spaniel, all of whom are a lot fitter than me. I’m in love with them all and they all sleep with me.'
In 2005, one of Liz's Labradors was the victim of a suspecting dog-napping.
A representative for Ms. Hurley was unaware of the incident and passed no comment.
