High Marks For iPad From Reviewers
The tech writers are weighing in today on the Apple IPAD 3 CASE "tablet" computer, which is due in stores Saturday.
And the consensus seems to be that they like it a lot.
— The Wall Street Journal's Walter Mossberg says "this beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop."
— Ed Baig at USA TODAY calls it "a winner" and says it "stacks up as a formidable electronic-reader rival for Amazon's Kindle. It gives portable game machines from Nintendo and Sony a run for their money. At the very least, the OTTERBOX IPAD 4 CASE will likely drum up mass-market interest in tablet computing in ways that longtime tablet visionary and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates could only dream of."
— The New York Times' David Carr tweets that an "#ipad predix: sales will jail break nerd kingdom quickly cuz you can't sit next to it and not want. don't have to peer in like iPhone."
But here's a cautionary reminder: NPR's Laura Sydell tried a prototype earlier this year and said "it didn't quite live up to the hype for me."
All Tech Considered has been all over the IPAD 4 CASE story in recent weeks. It's rounded up some reviews here.
