Pink Floyd make sweet music with EMI

Rock giants pink floyd have buried the hatchet with record company EMI, signing a new five year deal after resolving a legal spat which had threatened to derail their 40-year partnership, writes Ben Griffiths.
The news is a fillip for Guy Hands, boss of EMI’s private equity owner Terra Firma, who has seen a raft of high-profile acts including Queen, the Rolling Stones and Sir Paul McCartney leave the label since he acquired it in 2007.
Pink Floyd have sold more than 200m albums worldwide, including Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.

But the group and its publisher fell out last year in a row over digital music sales.

Hands also lost a court case in New York after accusing adviser Citigroup of tricking him into overpaying for the company.

EMI chief executive Roger Faxon said: ‘Pink Floyd are one of the most important and influential bands of all time and i know i speak for everyone at EMI when I say that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them.’
