So much for a champagne toast! Tom Cruise carries tired Suri to awaiting car before scooping Icon gong

It was an exciting day for Tom Cruise as he tonight became the fourth ever recipient of the Friars Club’s Entertainment Icon award.
But one person who couldn’t quite keep up with the evening’s activities was the actor’s six-year-old daughter Suri.
The youngster was all dolled up in a pink ballgown and gold heeled sandals, but she didn’t seem too enthusiastic about the idea of an evening out and had to be carried to an awaiting car by her 49-year-old father.

Meanwhile Tom’s adopted son Connor, from his second marriage to Nicole Kidman, walked ahead, carrying one of Suri’s cuddly toys and a miniature handbag.
Tom’s children accompanied their famous father to the New York event to show their support but steered clear of the red carpet.
Tom’s wife Katie Holmes was noticeably absent from the evening as she is currently filming her latest movie in nearby Connecticut.

Instead, Tom posed up on the red carpet with the event’s emcee Alec Bladwin, all while clutching his coveted award.
And some of the other attendees at the bash thrown by the private members club and the Friars Foundation were just as eager to get a closer look at Tom’s trophy.

Fashion designer Betsey Johnson put on quite the display for the cameras as she curtseyed on the red carpet before pretending to take a bit out of the gong as it sat on a podium.

A host of stars were in attendance, all of whom are presumably members of the elite club, which is best-known for its celebrity roasts.
Aside from Tom, the only people to have received the Entertainment Icon award since the club’s launch in 1904 are Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra.
