Big Daddy, Opa, Go-Go and Dude: As George Bush asks his grandchild to call him 'Sir', the emerging new names for grandpa
Former president George W Bush joked that he would like his first grandchild to call him as 'Sir'.
But it appears that today's grandparents answer to all sorts of unorthodox nicknames.
A thread on the TODAY Moms Facebook page revealed Big Daddy, Brapa, Opa, Go-Go, and Dude as just some of the alternatives to 'grandpa'.

daughter Jenna confirmed she is expecting her first baby
And another added: 'Brapa is what he always used for his grandpa. All three of my boys use those names for their grandparents, now!
A Florida resident explained that both her daughters call her in-laws 'Go-Go', after they heard cheers of 'Go Go Gators', a reference to the University of Florida men's basketball team.

'The working theory is that they think of themselves as too young and too active for the traditional names.'
But some grandparents adopt names favored by different nationalities or cultures.
One Facebook user said their grandchildren use Mormor and Morfar - the Danish equivalent for Grandma and Grandpa.
While another wrote: 'My husband’s parents are Oma and Opa (German).'
Some children also delight in picking humorous nicknames for their grandparents.
As a grandmother explains: 'I am called Nana and my husband is Grumps. No, that's not misspelled. He earned the name because he is grumpy.'
Last year Yahoo deemed the top five nicknames for Grandma as Grammy, Granny, Nana, Mimi and Bubbe.
The most popular alternatives for grandpa were Papa, Pop Pop, Gramps, Pops and Granddad.
Parenting website She Knows cited some of the hipper options for Grandma as Bamma, Birdie, Foxy, GaGa and GG and for Grandpa Ace, BigBop, Bubba, Dappa and G-Daddy.
