Class of 2013! Full line-up of Oscar nominees put their rivalry aside as they pose together in huge group shot at pre-event luncheon
Many are up against each other in the same category at this year's Oscars.
But the full-line up of nominees put their rivalry aside as they posed for a giant group shot at the pre-event lunch in Los Angeles on Monday.
Approximately 160 nominees, including A-listers Anne Hathaway, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chatain and Hugh Jackman all posed in what could almost be described as a rather intimidating snap.
Naomi sat seated for the photograph
near fellow Best Actress nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, with Best Actor
contender Bradley Cooper perching himself between them.
Meanwhile, Zero Dark Thirty star and Best Actress nominee Jessica Chastain smiled for the camera in her pretty floral dress next to rugged Hugh Jackman, who is up for a Best Actor nod for his role in Les Miserables.
Following the snap, the two stars were seen clapping as they stood just behind a huge gold Oscar statuette.
Meanwhile, Hugh's co-star and Best Supporting Actress contender Anne Hathaway stood near the back of the group.
The 30-year-old was positioned among actor Denzel Washington, producer Kathleen Kennedy, editor Jay Cassidy, director Espen Sandberg, and writer Mark Boal.
With just under three weeks to go before potentially the biggest night of their lives, the Academy Award nominees attended the Oscar luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday.
A-listers mixed with a large group of
directors, producers, scriptwriters and other crew from
behind-the-scenes as they gathered at the lavish Beverly Hilton.
While everyone made an effort with suits and dresses, the glamour on show was far from the dazzling outfits we can expect at the Oscar ceremony on February 24th.
But the female stars still looked gorgeous in their ensembles.
As if they had emerged from an old
movie on the silver screen, Anne, Naomi and Jennifer embodied the Golden
Age of Hollywood in monochromatic black and white.
Anne looked chic in a black sheath dress with draping detail from the hip.
Her cropped hair was swept to the side and lips grazed with a kiss of rose lipstick that accentuated her infectious smile.
The actress wore minimal jewellery -
her wedding ring and a jewelled bracelet on the opposite wrist - and
completed the look with black stiletto sandals.
Naomi also went for classic black, her dress embellished with a floral pattern that extended in interesting detail over her collar and upper arms.
Her blonde locks were coiffed in large curls around her shoulders and make-up perfectly dusted for daytime.
The Impossible star completed her look with pewter pointed-toe kitten heels with black and metallic detail.
The actress, nominated in the best supporting category for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, wore a contrasting white tea dress paired with black pumps and a cobalt blue cocktail ring.
The 22-year-old star wore her honey blonde hair swept back and down over one shoulder, with several textured pieces falling to the side of her face.
About 160 nominees attended the lunch, an annual rite leading up to Hollywood's big night.
The producers of the Academy Awards meanwhile announced good news for those watching at home as they spoke at the luncheon honouring this year's Oscar nominees: they're trying to cut out the boring parts.
Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron say they watched 40 years of past ceremonies to finds ways to keep the show moving at a brisk pace.
They say they're looking to nip and tuck what they call little 'pregnant pauses' that can turn the show into a marathon.
Zadan and Meron said on Monday they hope to make room for more fun in the show by squeezing out less-exciting moments.
The 85th annual Oscars airs live February 24 on ABC.
