New York Giants player Osi Umenyiora is engaged to former Miss Universe
New York Giants star Osi Umenyiora has just announced his engagement to his girlfriend - former Miss Universe.
The British-born defensive popped the question to Leila Lopes over dinner in Atlanta last week.
They are planning to get married in 2014, according to the New York Post.
The couple met just one year ago during fashion week and had their first date soon after.

They were introduced by publicist BJ Coleman, who is the president of Coleman Entertainment Group
Umenyiora, 31, recently tweeted a photo of himself kissing the 26-year-old beauty from Angola, calling her 'my beautiful fiancée'.
She won the Miss Universe title in 2011.
It was while they were sight seeing in Morocco during a trip to Europe last week, that Umenyiora, got on his knee and proposed. They took pictures, with Osi captioning “My beautiful Fiancee Leila”
Last week Umenyora said his goal is to break Michael Strahan's single-season sack record of 22 1/2 sacks in 2013, and even challenged the future Hall of Famer to a little wager.
He
tweeted: 'I intend on breaking Strahan's sack record this season. [But]
that's impossible playing in a rotation,' Umenyiora tweeted, hinting
that his time with the New York Giants is over.
'Yes, Mike. That sack record is going down. Care for a friendly wager?'
Umenyiora recently had his contract with the Giants voided, and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins on March 12.
Last year he earned a salary of $3.9million.
After Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011, there were allegations that false documents were used to allow her to participate in Miss Angola UK - the contest she won which allowed her to compete in Miss Angola and subsequently Miss Universe.
It was claimed that Lopes had never lived outside of Angola at the time she competed in Miss Angola UK and therefore should not have been allowed to enter a competition that was exclusively for Angolan citizens living in the UK.
