Suri finally gets some playmates... as she enjoys a visit to the museum with new friends and mum Katie Holmes
Life continues as normal for Tom
Cruise's daughter Suri in the wake of her parents' split and she
certainly seems oblivious to the drama as mum Katie Holmes keeps her
busy in New York.
A playdate to the museum proved a welcome distraction for the six-year-old who is rarely seen with other children.
But that all seems set to change, as after celebrating the Fourth of July in their new home in New York with Katie's parents Martin and Kathleen, Suri and some new friends went to the Children's Museum of the Arts and later enjoyed a visit to cafe Alice's Tea Cup.
It was in stark contrast to
Suri's 5th birthday celebration when she was seen celebrating at a table
surrounded by her much older siblings and adults.
While she clearly had plenty of presents to unwrap, she didn't seem to have any playmates close to her age to marvel at her birthday treats.
But as Katie admits she's entering a 'new phase', it seems that Suri is about to enter one too.
Later in the day the group went to Alice in Wonderland themed café Alice's Tea Cup, where Suri emerged with a shopping bag and a sparkly wand.
A source said helpful Suri insisted on holding the door open for the whole group as they left the tea house.
Father Tom is said to be extremely disappointed that Katie filed for divorce in New York, as he feels that she is trying to cut him out of their daughter's life.
A source said: 'Tom won't
tolerate it and told his lawyers that if he personally needs to go to
court and make a plea in front of the judge for an order allowing him to
see his daughter, he will.'
It is believed Katie wants legal custody because she is worried about Tom's devotion to sci-fi cult Scientology and the effect the quasi-religious sect may have on their six-year-old daughter.
However a source told TMZ: '[Katie] was totally committed to Scientology. She had enthusiasm for it and would voluntarily and gladly participate in it when Tom was off shooting movies.
'This is not a fight over religion. It's being used as a way to hurt Tom.'
Meanwhile, an interview with Katie from next month's ELLE magazine hints that she may not have been happy in the relationship for some time.
Discussing turning 33, she told the US publication: 'I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. I'm staring to come into my own. It's like a new phase.'
Asked about her marriage, she admitted she wanted to focus on herself.
