It must have been a riveting conversation.
And Rihanna would've had plenty to discuss with whomever was on the other end of the line on Tuesday, as the singer made her way to dinner in Santa Monica - with her mobile glued to her ear.
The 24-year-old recording artist, who routinely shows off as much skin as possible, this time covered herself demurely from top to bottom in a floor-length black dress.

The flowing dress was gathered at the waist, and paired with a pair of black slippers.
Rihanna's only accessories were a pair of gold stud earrings and a band on her wedding finger.
 

The Umbrella singer has been back in the headlines even more than usual this week and last, after she partied for three nights in a row with her ex Chris Brown, whose assault on his then-girlfriend in 2009 left Rihanna hospitalised.
Shortly after the famous couple were seen partying together, Chris announce he was splitting from his girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

It emerged on Tuesday that Brown has offered Tran a generous payout following their split.
A source told The Sun: 'Neither Rihanna nor Chris want to make things harder for her than they already are.
'Chris wants to set her up financially and do right by her – he wants her to stay in his life if possible.'

Meanwhile, Rihanna has reportedly reached out to her love rival and the duo recently met for a heart-to-heart.
The insider added: 'Rihanna called Karrueche for a proper heart-to-heart. They needed to air a few problems.
'The girls talked for close to two hours. Rih answered all of the questions and Karrueche had a few home truths to tell her.'
