Genuine love or fame hungry? Heidi Montag reunites with estranged mother after two years in wine-tasting and massage shoot
Despite severing ties with her mother, Heidi Montag has now backtracked - in the name of publicity.
The pair were seen enjoying a mother-daughter bonding experience in an awkwardly staged shoot.
The Hills beauty and her mother Darlene Egelhoff, who were estranged for two years, shrugged off family woes during a wine-tasting session at the Demetria Estate in the Santa Ynez Valley.
During their Californian jaunt, they were also treated to Swedish massages, which seemed to be another excuse for Heidi to show off some flesh.
As the ladies reunited for the cameras, they can be seen strolling together arm-in-arm on the beach.
However, rather than engaging in genuine chatter, they appear to be acting, as if they are extras in a film scene who have been instructed to move their mouths as if conversing.
In 2010, Heidi even sought a restraining order against her mother after various incidents - including Darlene's stubborn refusal to leave the house her daughter shared with husband Spencer Pratt.
She also insulted Heidi's post-surgery body, following the blonde's infatuation with 10 procedures.
Heidi, 25, has been under the knife
to increase her breast implants to DDDs, as well as braving a brow lift,
a nose job revision, liposuction on her stomach and thighs, and a
bottom augmentation.
At the time, she said: 'I was made fun of when I was younger, and so I had insecurities, especially after I moved to LA.
'People said I had a Jay Leno chin; they'd circle it on blogs and say nasty things. It bothered me.
'And when I watched myself on The Hills, my ears would be sticking out like Dumbo! I just wanted to feel more confident and look in the mirror and be like, "Whoa! That's me." I was an ugly duckling.'
Despite Heidi's reasoning, Darlene claimed she looked like Barbie and was better prior to surgery.
She was captured on an episode of The Hills saying: 'It takes a little getting used to. It’s very weird and very awkward. I’m sorry. It sounds to me like you want to look like Barbie.
'How do I go and say that of course I thought you were more beautiful before? I thought you were younger, I thought you were fresher-looking, I thought you were healthier.
'What’s done is done, so that’s a terrible thing for me to say but, yes, that’s how I feel. I felt that you were much more beautiful before and I hope that some of this will fade away.'
