Kate Moss, Miranda Kerr and Lara Stone rank among world's best-paid models... but Gisele outstrips them all with $45m fortune
Gisele Bundchen has been revealed to be the world's highest-paid model in the latest ranking by Forbes.
Kate Moss, Miranda Kerr and Lara Stone also made the list with impressive fortunes, the Brazialian supermodel's $45 million earnings puts her way ahead of her peers.
Also making the top ten are Natalia Vodianova, Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel, but the list revealed some notable absences, such as model mogul Heidi Klum.
Ms Bundchen, 31, made an
estimated $45million from May 1st, 2011 to May 1st, 2012, remaining an
unparalleled force within the fashion world.
As well as her regular modelling jobs, she counts spokesperson deals, and independent licensing ventures as her main form of income.
She endorses brands such as Pantene, Esprit, and Versace, and makes a percentage of profits on her Ipanema flip-flops and many other Brazilian products bearing her name.
Kate Moss may have secured the second
spot, but comparatively, the British supermodel was placed with earnings
of $9.2million, down from $13.5million last year.
The 38-year-old remains one of fashion’s biggest icons, and endorses brands such as Longchamp, Mango, Rimmel, and Vogue Eyewear, not to mention her longstanding design deal with TopShop, going back to 2007.
Hedi
Klum, who in comparison earned $20million, would have knocked Ms Moss
to the third spot, however Forbes determined that the German supermodel
graduated from model to 'mogul' after she ended her 13-year run as a
Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2010, and has since become 'more of a
businesswoman and multi-media personality'.
Meanwhile Natalia Vodianova, who earned $8.6million, more than doubled her earnings from last year, gaining this year's third spot, up from ninth place last year. Victoria’s Secret Angel, Adriana Lima, registered fourth earning $7.3million.
Crossing over to a more mainstream audience, the 31-year-old appeared in two Super Bowl commercials, one for Kia and another for Teleflora.
Since announcing in March that she is expecting her second child, also has more Facebook followers than any other model, according to Forbes, also taking the final spot in the magazine's Celebrity 100 list.
Chris Gay, president of Marilyn New York, and Ms Lima's agent said: 'Adriana’s a very modern, diverse beauty.
'She’s an ethnic mix of a girl, where quite frankly because she has such a multi-racial, multi-cultural background, everybody is accepting of her. That has always been her huge benefit.'
Also speaking on what makes such a high earning model, David Bonnouvrier, chairman of DNA Models, said: 'The top girls now represent a return to a true representation of beauty, not the odd beauty or a fashion-diverted version of beauty.'
DNA Models represents Ms Vodianova, along with fellow top earners, Victoria's Secret models Doutzen
Kroes, who ranked fifth on the list, and Alessandra Ambrosio, sixth.
Mr Bonnouvrier added: 'There was a time where the odd beauty was in style, and that created a backlash for a time when advertisers couldn’t use those girls.'
Australian native Miranda Kerr, 29, ranked seventh, while fellow Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel, was placed tenth.
Miss Swanepoel, 23, the youngest
supermodel on the list, has become a staple in Victoria’s Secret
advertising, similar to Erin Heatherton, another 23-year-old who
narrowly missed the list.
With six out of the ten top earning models being Victoria's Secret alum, Ed Razek, chief marketing officer of Limited Brands, the lingerie label's parent company, described how rare his supermodels really are.
He said: 'In the entire history of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, 140 separate women have walked that runway.
'There
are seven billion people on the planet. That makes each of them not one
in a million, not one in five million, not one in ten million. That
literally makes them one in 50 million humans.'
Kate Moss, Miranda Kerr and Lara Stone also made the list with impressive fortunes, the Brazialian supermodel's $45 million earnings puts her way ahead of her peers.
